In the wake of 2013’s Carpenter Fire in the Mount Charleston Wilderness Area just outside of Las Vegas, it has taken and will take the fragile desert landscape a long time to recover. Still – the signs of rehabilitation are there in the greenery and wildlife. And, there is a stark kind of beauty unique to this corner of the world in the eerie leftover tree-scapes, forever marred by the event yet still standing tall, bone-colored, and ebony black jutting into the blue desert sky at altitude.
