Description
Inspired by the incredible, looming, easily obsession-inducing hoodoo formations in Bryce Canyon National Park, this painting is a study in color, texture, and contrast. In painting it, I thought a lot about patterns that repeat in nature – skin tone, the musculature of this rock – and how, similarly to snow, there are surprising colors and shapes hidden in plain sight in sandstone. I have enormous respect and awe for these formidable formations and the eerie, beautiful, and quietly abundant landscape that supports them (and me!).
9″x12″ acrylic on canvas with painted canvas edges for a 3D effect. Ready to hang.
